Successful joint meeting of EUPRIM-NET and European Primate Veterinarians (EPV)

On November 4 and 5 2011, the first joint meeting between EUPRIM-NET (Network activity 2) and the EPV was held at the BPRC. More than 30 veterinarians and researchers involved in the veterinary aspects of breeding and research on non-human primates came together to discuss various aspects. This meeting focussed on minimal invasive techniques to be used in both research centres and zoos.
Besides presentations and discussions, training on endoscopic techniques by the experts in a “dummy system”  and more detailed information on thermo graphic techniques was provided. EUPRIM-NET is an EU-funded project on basic and applied scientific biological and biomedical research with the aim to perform this research as optimal as possible and with the highest ethical standards.
EPV is a network of veterinarians specialised in primates with the aim to share and improve knowledge and to provide education.
