Deep coverage mouse red blood cell proteome: a first comparison with the human red blood cell.

A first description of an in-depth proteome for a mouse red blood cell has recently been published. This is the result of an extensive collaboration between researchers at BPRC and researchers in Germany and Denmark.

Because of the important role in medical development a careful comparison has been made between the mouse and human red-cell proteomes. This provides a departure point for future research aimed at better understanding red cell function and its role in health and disease.
