Bioinformatician

Genomics and Transcriptomics

The Biomedical Primate Research Centre (BPRC) is seeking an analytically strong and motivated Bioinformatician who will focus on the analysis and interpretation of large-scale datasets.

Your role

You will be responsible for analysing and interpreting both public and internal omics datasets, with a particular focus on single-cell sequencing data. In addition, you will be involved in genome assembly, annotation, and subsequent validation. To support these activities, you will develop analysis pipelines (Python, R) that make data analysis more efficient, streamlined, and reproducible.

Through your work, you will directly contribute to uncovering the causes and progression of diseases and help translate findings from preclinical research in animal models to the human context, ensuring that the collected data are maximally leveraged.

Although your primary activities will take place within the genetics research group, you will also regularly provide support to genetics-related projects from other departments within the institute.

Your profile

  • A completed Bachelor’s degree (or higher) with at least 2 years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in the analysis of genomics and transcriptomics data, thereby contributing to scientific publications.
  • Knowledge of genome assembly and annotation.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and R (e.g. Seurat, CellRanger) is required.
  • Some knowledge of machine learning and AI is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical skills, accuracy, and a willingness to collaborate with researchers from various disciplines.

What we offer

  • A challenging and socially relevant position (32–40 hours per week) within a leading research institute.
  • Opportunities to analyse unique datasets and to develop new methods and pipelines.
  • Collaboration with scientists from diverse research areas (including genetics, immunology, virology, and neurology).
  • The chance to contribute to a unique mission: understanding disease mechanisms, advancing translational research, and reducing animal experimentation.

Application

Are you interested in this position? Please send your application before October 21 including a motivation letter and CV to [email protected]. First interviews will be held in week 44.
