The outstanding scientist and pioneer, Professor dr. J. J. van Rood
The Society for Immune polymorphism (SIP) will introduce the Jon van Rood lecture during the next symposium which will be held from October 7-10th 2024 in Sassenheim, the Netherlands.
Professor dr. J. J. van Rood was an outstanding scientist and one of the pioneers that played a key role is the discovery and description of the HLA-system. The polymorphisms encoded by this genetic system control susceptibility and resistance to disease and matching for these markers during transplantation has a beneficial impact on graft-survival.
