The Animal Welfare Body

The AWB supervised the detailed information provided by the investigator and the AWB reviews the proposed changes to the protocol after it has been approved. It is possible for example that new information becomes available that would lead to better scientific results, or would improve animal welfare, or both. It is also possible that unexpected problems occur, which necessitate an adjustment of the experiment.

The mission of the AWB-BPRC is to strive for optimal animal welfare, based on the principles of the 3 R’s (Replacement, Reduction, and Refinement), the intrinsic value of the animals and the current legislation.
